Subscription Cancellation
You may cancel your Records Detective subscription at any time through your account settings. Here's what happens when you cancel:
How to Cancel Your Subscription:
- Log in to your Records Detective account
- Click on "My Account" in the top navigation bar
- Scroll down to the "Subscription" section
- Click the "Cancel Subscription" button
- You'll be presented with alternative plan options - you can choose to downgrade or proceed with cancellation
- Confirm your cancellation when prompted
- Immediate Effect: Your subscription will remain active until the end of your current billing period.
- Access Continues: You will continue to have full access to your subscription benefits until the billing period ends.
- No Future Charges: You will not be charged for any future billing periods after cancellation.
- Report Access: After your subscription ends, you will still be able to view any reports you previously generated.
Refund Policy
We offer refunds under the following circumstances:
7-Day Money-Back Guarantee
If you are not satisfied with our service, you may request a full refund within 7 days of your initial subscription purchase. This applies to first-time subscribers only.
Eligible for Refund:
- First-time subscription purchases within 7 days
- Technical issues that prevented you from using the service (with documentation)
- Duplicate charges or billing errors
- Charges made after a cancellation request was submitted
Not Eligible for Refund:
- Requests made after 7 days from the initial purchase
- Renewal charges (you must cancel before the renewal date)
- Partial month refunds for mid-cycle cancellations
- Accounts terminated for Terms of Service violations
- Lookups already used during the billing period
How to Request a Refund
To request a refund, please follow these steps:

- Include your account email address and the reason for your refund request
- Provide any relevant documentation (e.g., screenshots of technical issues)
- Our team will review your request within 2-3 business days
Once approved, refunds will be processed to your original payment method within 5-10 business days, depending on your bank or credit card company.
Plan Changes & Downgrades
Instead of canceling, you may choose to downgrade to a lower-tier plan:
- Standard Plan ($14.95/month): 15 vehicle reports per month
- Basic Plan ($4.95/month): 10 vehicle reports per month with continued access to past reports
Plan changes take effect at the start of your next billing cycle. Your current plan benefits remain active until then.
